The Easter Vigil Fire

Catholic Easter traditions in Felanitx feature a small fire outside the parish church of Sant Miquel at the start of solemn Easter Vigil celebrations held just after sunset on Dissabte Sant (Holy Saturday), yesterday. The purifying Foc Nou Easter fire was baptized by the parish priest and then used to light a Paschal candle and other small votive candles used by the congregation during the ritual of a communal baptism ceremony and the following Missa solemne (solemn mass).
